Susan Stripling Workshop

Susan Stripling is holding a workshop in Colorado! I'll be hosting it at my home/studio. She was recently featured in Professional Photographer magazine. Here's the info on the workshop taken from her blog:


NEW WORKSHOPS! NEW WORKSHOPS!

i'm pleased to announce that the dates for the next workshops will be july 9-10, 2008 in west los angeles, california and september 30-october 1, 2008 in denver, colorado

the california workshop is being hosted by the brilliant cat and adi of next exit photography. their studio is in west l.a. and all details about lodging, exact studio address, and travel information is available upon request and will be supplied to all attendees the moment they register. the denver workshop is being hosted by the travis broxton of broxton art.

these workshops will concentrate on developing your vision and will enable you with the tools and techniques to do so. we will focus on learning to vary your vision with different perspectives that enhance compositional elements; to look beyond your direct line of sight for different angular approaches and see past the easy image to create something different and compelling.

while most workshop attendees are generally professional photographers already, amateurs need not be afraid - there is something here for truly everyone!

other points the workshops will address:

- learning to shoot outside in a myriad of lighting situations with live models and one-on-one instruction.
- simple steps for an efficient workflow.
- branding and marketing.
- shooting with a final image in mind; photoshop techniques for simple enhancement.
- creating your own post-production style.

the workshops are limited to 15 attendees each. tuition is $1,200. additional logistical information (hotels, airports, etc.) are available upon request or immediately upon registrering.

Kelsey @ Villa Parker

I had the pleasure this past week of photographing a bridal session for Kelsey, who's wedding is next week. This was great for a couple of reasons. First Kelsey is one of my favorites because she, along with Marianne, is one of the catering sales managers at The Sanctuary, a beautiful location that I've been fortunate enough to have photographed a lot of wedding celebrations. Kelsey's wedding is there next week.

Secondly, it gave me the opportunity to photograph at Villa Parker. Two more people who have made my favorites list are Erika and Wendy, who are putting together what will be one of the hottest and desirable locations for weddings and events. They contacted me about a month or so ago to come a visit , and I was very impressed with the facility, their vision, and more importantly the two of them. I'm really looking forward to working with them and photographing a lot of weddings there!

The bridal session was a blast! A special thank you to Wendy's son Christopher for being a great assistant. Kelsey looked fabulous and is going to be a beautiful bride!

Colorado is popular for destination weddings, and I've been very blessed to have had the opportunity to photograph a bunch of them for out of state clients. Wendy and Ben live in Charlotte, North Carolina, and have chosen to have their wedding this summer at the Ritz-Carlton in Bachelor Gulch. We've only had one or two phone conversations, so I was looking forward to meeting Wendy and her fiance Ben in person for their engagement session. We instantly hit it off, and I just loved their laughter and smiles as we had a great session at Lookout Mountain Park. I'm looking forward to their wedding in a couple of months!

The Martinez Family

I had the pleasure last week of photographing one of my favorite couples and members of their family. I photographed Carrie and William's wedding in July 2005. They have since moved to Tampa, but were up for a visit and asked if I could do some family pictures. It was great seeing them again! I'll start off with a couple of pictures from their wedding which are a staple of my portfolio.
