Troy's girls; Erica & Frank; Tamara & KC

I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday weekend. It was the Memorial Day holiday and I hope everyone took a moment to pray for our troops in Iraq.

It was a busy weekend! Two weddings and a family portrait session. I told Troy, my UPS delivery man, that I wanted to take some family pictures for him as a "Thank You" for the excellent way he has taken care of me and my wife's UPS deliveries. He stops by our home 2 to 3 times or more every week and makes a return trip the same day if he misses us and suspects it's something we need that day. He's a gem and I wanted to show him our appreciation. On Sunday I took pictures of his family. He's been married to Tonya, his high school sweetheart for 17 years and they have two beautiful daughters. Here's one of the pictures:

I had a back-to-back at the Sanctuary in Sedalia. The Sanctuary is a private country club and golf course that most golfers will sell their soul to play on. Charles Brinton (CR), and his beautiful wife Tiffany photographed with me on Saturday. I had the pleasure of shooting Tiffany's bridal session and their engagement photos last year. Since then, we've become great friends and they are becoming a great photography team! I love working with them!

Here's a few images from Erica and Frank's wedding on Saturday. The Sanctuary is a beautiful place, but they took it to another level. Judy Stevenson, the event designer, hooked it up! The band, Heartbeat, tore it up! And Michele Willett, the wedding coordinator kept everything on schedule.

Tamara and KC were married on Friday at the Sanctuary. After covering their rehearsal and dinner on Thursday, I knew the wedding would be something special. And it was! Tamara was a stunning bride! They danced up a storm at their reception with the music provided by Funkiphino, who have just released a new album. They are a hot band!

I also want to take a moment to thank Kelsey, Kevin, David, and the rest of the staff at the Sanctuary. They are the best. I love photographing there because I know everthing is going to be correct and done in a first class manner. I'll have the honor of photographing Kelsey's wedding next May. I can't wait!

Be sure to check out the "newlyweds" section of my website for more images from these weddings. They should be up within the next week.

Bright Moments,
Travis

Happy Monday!

Wedding season is here! Chris and Ambierre were married Saturday at the Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church in Greenwood Village, with the reception at Hudson Gardens. I photographed Chris' sister's wedding two years ago, and it was great catching up with the Rediger family and meeting Ambierre's family. Here's a few pictures.

A little "vogueing" after a change of gowns!

I had the honor of photographing Chris' sister's wedding a couple of years ago. Mary and TJ brought their 7 month old son Payden to the wedding and I caught this shot of mother and son.

Two weddings this coming weekend. On Friday it's Tamara and KC at the Sanctuary.

And on Saturday it's Erica and Frank also at the Sanctuary.

Trip to Detroit

I had the pleasure of presenting the program "Rocky Mountain High" on my journey as a wedding photographer this past Tuesday in Detroit. It was sponsored by the Detroit Professional Photographers Association. The awesome mother and daughter photography team of Wally and her daughter Julie picked me up at the airport and rolled out the red carpet! After a tour of Detroit, which has changed considerably, and for the better since my last trip there about ten years ago, we had a great meal and conversation at Bahama Breeze. I got a chance to meet some wonderful photographers including John Glass, the DPPA President, and Claude Jodoin, who also happens to be Technical Editor for Rangefinder magazine.

After showing four slideshows, a Powerpoint presentation, and answering numerous questions, I was surprised to see that almost three hours had past! We then took off to Champs for appetizers and beverages. I received some wonderful emails from from attendees, which made me feel really good considering it was my first solo presentation!

Thank you all for your wonderful hospitality! I hope to have another trip to Motown in the future!

It's Friday!

After recovering from a great weekend in Phoenix with our dear friends Wally and Gladys, it's off to Detroit as the guest speaker at the Detroit PPA monthly meeting. Here's a link to their website: www.dppa.net. A big thank you to Jenna Walker for her input in putting together my program.

Playlist: CD's in the office and car
The Decemberists - The Crane Wife
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
John Abercrombie Quartet - Class Trip
Amon Tobin - Bricolage
Yo-Yo Ma - Beyond the Horizon

Before each scheduled wedding, I'll post a few pictures of the couple from their engagement session if available. Next Saturday its Ambierre and Chris. I photographed Chris' sister's wedding a few years ago, so it will be great to see his family again.

Happy Mother's Day!
