Wendy and Carter

It was a beautiful day for a wedding at Keystone Ranch yesterday. It was blazing hot too! Those of you that are not from Colorado, don't be fooled into thinking it doesn't get hot in the mountains! Krista and Sean did an incredible job helping me out photographing the wedding. There were over 5,000 images taken yesterday, so I quickly went through them and picked a few. The setting was gorgeous, and Wendy looked beautiful in her Vera Wang gown. Carter surprised me with his dancing skills. He can really cut a rug, or hardwood floor as it was last night! Thanks to the staff at Keystone Ranch, Kathy Vaughan, Linda Bluhm, and Judy Stevenson for making sure everything elegant and easy for us to do our job. I also want to give kudos to Tracy and A Touch of Class Music. They were so good! I had only preveiously heard them play during processions and cocktail hours. But they "threw down" playing jazz standards and dance music during the reception. I highly recommend them! Wendy and Carter are heading to Australia for their honeymoon. Have a great time!

Shooting with CR and Tiffany

CR and Tiffany invited me to shoot with them on Thursday. Lauren and Grant were married at the Lumberbaron, which is a historic mansion in west Denver. They had a beautiful garden wedding on the Summer Solstice, Thank you CR and Tiffany for inviting me! They recently helped me out with Erica and Franks wedding, so I was happy to do the same for them. It sure was nice being the 3rd shooter:-)!

Hanging out at Dave's place!

I took a nice, relaxing break yesterday with two of my good friends and great photographers Frances Marron and Dave Russell at Dave's new digs in Estes Park. I don't know how he can get any work done with breathtaking views from his home, and the way too laid back lifestyle of Estes Park. After taking a tour of his home away from home, we headed to the deck at Mary's Lake Lodge for lunch, which also offers views to die for! Now it was time to work off the lunch. Dave's an avid hiker, so we headed up the trail from his home to sit on the mountain top! We had great conversation and moments of complete silence to just take in God's beauty.

Thanks Dave, for a great day!

Wendy and Carter

This Saturday we'll be photographing Wendy and Carter's wedding at Keystone Ranch. This should be one grand affair! I've photographed at Keystone Ranch a couple of times, and it is a beautiful location for a wedding celebration. My favorite vendors are handling the duties on Saturday; Kathy Vaughan is coordinating the wedding, Judy Stevenson is doing the flowers, and Linda Bluhm is doing the linens. Linda, I wish you were still coordinating weddings too!

In addition to my fabulous assistant/second photographer Krista, Sean Cayton will also be photographing with us. Sean is an incredible photographer based out of Colorado Springs, and I'm glad we're getting a chance to work together again.

Wendy and Carter are a great couple, and I'm expecting a fun wedding and celebration. I had the chance to photograph their engagement session last week in Golden. They brought along Selway, who will also be part of the wedding! Here are a few images:

Ashley and Felix

I had the honor today of photographing my Pastor's son's wedding. Felix, or Gerald as most call him, and his beautiful bride Ashley were married at Restoration Christian Fellowship, officiated by his dad Pastor Felix Gilbert. It was a beautiful ceremony ably coordinated by Dayna and her Save the Date team.

You'll have to ask Felix why he and his Best Man Randy are laughing so hard!

The groomsmen jumping is my contribution to the grand tradition of cheesy wedding photographs. I think it's a great photograph to take with the right group of guys!

Pastor Gilbert trying really hard to keep it together during the ring exchange.

Congratulations, and have fun in Vegas and LA!

Beth and Joe

Beth and Joe are getting married tomorrow! I'm looking forward to their wedding for a couple of reasons. First, we had a great engagement session last month in LODO. When I first met Beth, she seemed very shy and I thought it was going to be a bit of a challenge to photograph her. Wrong! She and Joe were a joy to photograph. Affectionate to one another, spontaneous, and open to everything suggested during out photo shoot. Tomorrow should be a lot of fun.

The second reason is that I get to work with my first assistant/intern Krista. I met Krista last year while photographing her sister Janee's wedding. She was the Maid of Honor. I had no idea she was a photography student until I delivered the parent's album from her sister 's wedding to their house. Krista was busy doing Poloroid SX70 transfers to fine art paper when I said "whoa, what are you doing?" Krista shared her passion for photography with me. She's been on photo expeditions to Mongolia and South America and has had work published in Time magazine. Of course I asked her if she was interested in wedding photography, and she said yes! So here we are working our first wedding together. She's going to be great! She's got a great eye, a natural sense of composition, and a great personality. Welcome Krista!

Gotta go! It's Friday night and that means date night with my wife!
