It's a Beautiful Day!

No, the title is not a reference to the U2 hit of a few years ago, nor the 70's art-rock group. It's describes Brianne and Wes' wedding day on the 8th of September at Timber Ridge on Keystone Mountain. Brianne signs all here emails and voicemails with "Have a Beautiful Day", so I couldn't resist!

The day was perfect! Bri is an event planner herself, so I knew ahead of time that the wedding would be well organized. With the help of family friend Angie Vossler, who is also the catering manager for the St Julian in Boulder, and Christina Stokes the catering manager for Keystone resorts, the day went off flawlessly!

Here's all the girls on the rooftop deck of the home where they were getting ready.
Krista climbed up there with them to take this image
The wedding dress and the flowergirl's dress.

Krista took this one of Emma as she wandered around the meadow.
Wes and his best man are looking at Bri coming down the aisle. What are the two groomsmen at the end looking at???
Just as Bri reached the front, the sun came blazing from behind the clouds,
and I was able to get this cool perspective with the sun.
After the ceremony, Bri and Wes spend a couple of minutes together,
before we take a combined extended family picture

Emma being her cute self! Thanks for catching this one Krista!Deb, Bri's mom wiping a tear during the first dance.
Jill and Full House had everyone on their feet the whole evening.
Go Angie, Go Angie! Whatcha gonna to do with that tie?
Catching a private moment with Bri and Wes.
Deb and Lee, Bri's parents.
Drew and Glynna, Wes' parents.
Heading down the mountain on the gondola. Thank you Bri, Wes, and your family and friends for a "Beautiful Day!"

Labor Day Weekend in Aspen

It has taken a week, but I'm finally able to post the pictures from the big wedding weekend in Aspen. I had the pleasure of having Julie Proudfoot of Wally Spice Studios in Detroit, come out and shoot these two beautiful weddings with me. I met Julie and her mom Wally when I spoke at the Detroit Professional Photographer's Association monthly meeting this past May. Julie told me she wanted to photograph a wedding in our beautiful state and her wish came true Labor Day weekend. My wife Pat, and her friend Carolyn accompanied us too, which was great because Pat's a great cooking was very welcomed after a couple of days of shooting. With all the bear sightings recently in Aspen, I thought we'd see one, but no such "luck"!

Here's Julie enjoying her first ever gondola ride up to the top of the mountain for Saturday's wedding. That's Aspen in the background.
Debbie and Chris had a beautiful intimate ceremony on the wedding deck followed by a luncheon reception in the Aspen Mountain Club. They reside in Hawaii, so there were a bunch of island touches in the decor and ceremony. They presented leis to their family members.
The ceremony location on top of Aspen Mountain is breathtaking!
Julie took this one of Debbie during the ceremony with the Hawaiian floral arrangement in the background.

With their son.
Work it girl!
I love this moment that Julie caught of them walking to their reception.
Here's a big combined family picture.
Jean, Debbie's mom, looking great!
I love the window light in the Aspen Mountain Club. I want to thank Stefanie Cove, of the Little Nell, for making everything run so smoothly. I'm looking forward to working with her in the future!
Just married and heading down the mountain. Thank you for a beautiful day!

After Debbie and Chris' wedding with 35 guests, Kristin and Andy's wedding on Sunday was a bit larger, with over 180 guests. Their ceremony and reception was at the Pine Creek Cookhouse, up Castle Creek Valley. I got the chance to work with Jane Floyd once again. Jane coordinated a wedding I photographed in Aspen a couple of years ago, and I really enjoyed working with her.

Here my favorite makeup artist, Katherine Gordon, putting the finishing touches on Kristin in her suite at the Hotel Jerome before we all headed up to Pine Creek.
Kristin looking gorgeous in the beautiful setting
A little "this and that" from the bride and bridesmaids
Andy and his groomsmen looking dapper in their yellow vests to match Kristin's sash
And the kids are not to be outdone!

One of my favorite images that I have taken this year.
The dancing was is a clear tent with colored lanterns hanging from the translucent ceiling. It made a great setting for photographs. Here's the great band, Soul School, turning it out!
Kristin and Andy danced the night away! I love it!
I don't think Kristin missed a song except for the two minutes we spend taking a couple of pictures before we left. She really enjoyed her wedding day!
Thank you Andy and Kristin for a great wedding to photograph!
A big thank you to Julie too, who hung tough at altitude and took some great images. It's my turn to come out to Detroit soon and photograph with you and your mom.
