Before we get started with the first day of the trip, I thought it would be a good idea to post a picture of Louise and Sean. The beautiful sunset was about 15 minutes after their ceremony Now, on to the amazing journey!
The day started at 12:10 am on Friday at DIA with the 5 hour flight to San Jose, Costa Rica. That's Louise and Sean in the right center of the picture surrounded by some of their 30+ friends that made the trip. Then it was on the charter bus for the "supposedly" 4 hour ride to Ojochal. Louise's wonderful parents Ann and Bruce. They're both pilots, plus Bruce does aerial acrobatics with one of his planes. He told me some funny stories about taking his daughter's suitors on death defying plane rides to test their mettle! Matt, Rob, and Sean, evidently passed the tests! A stop for breakfast in San Jose. Provisions are on board Pit stop. Beer takes it toll! I warned you that I had my fisheye lens on! 6 hours later, we make it! Time to get in the pool. Time for dinner Then off to bed to get ready for day two, a horseback ride to Nauyaca Falls.
Ha! Travis! I can't believe you captured the moment when Louise launched me in the pool. Amazing moment for you to be "on-guard" with your camera. I sent the link to friends and the comments are flowing in:
"that is a sick pic! it looks like it should be in a print ad in a magazine or something. such a moment, such brilliant colors.."
Hometown, Vauxhall, N.J., which is about 15 miles west of Times Square. I dislike cheese except on pizza.
First photo published was the cover shot for National Speedsport News of Mark Donahue winning the Trans Am race at Brigehampton Speedway in Long Island. Sold first print in 1976. Vowed I’d never do weddings.
Big time Broncos fan. I’ve been to two Super Bowls. Saw them lose one and win one. I’ve run the NYC Marathon six times. I’ve done Ride the Rockies twice, Pedal the Peaks once.
Go to church regularly and consider myself a Christian. I respect everyone’s religious beliefs.
Never judge what someone thinks is a good picture. I never refuse a photo request, ie table shots or dad pulling his pants pockets inside out. It’s their pictures.
Favorite city besides Denver is Paris, France.
I’m pretty much self taught but have been to a ton of seminars, workshops, and college level photography classes over the years.
Photographers that have influenced me: Roy DeCarava; W. Eugene Smith; Ralph Gibson; Gary Winogrand; Pete Turner;
Helmut Newton; Harry Callahan; Eugene Richards; Elliott Erwitt
